Has anyone seen these event log entries on virtual windows servers - they seem to be floooding the application logs.
Where do they come from, what do they mean and can I stop them from being logged without missing any important information?

Manipulating Guest CPUID
Hi there,
I wish all a happy new year!
Did anybody ever tried to manipulate the CPUID, which is shown to the guest OS?
I have the following scenario:
CPUID shown in the guest OS: 0FABFBFF00020651
vmx-File Parameters:
guestCPUID.0 = "0000000b756e65476c65746e49656e69"
guestCPUID.1 = "0002065100010800829822030fabfbff"
As you can see I find the ID shown above splitted in two parts inside of the value of guestCPUID.1 (marked in bold).
I need to change this ID to 0FEBFBFF000006F1
If I manipulate the guestCPUID.1 value according to the ID I need I get the following result: After PowerOn the VM again the value gets instantly overwritten by the original value.
I assume that the other part of the value and maybe also guestCPUID.0 are also related in some way.
Unfortunally I can´t find anything in the documation / google about this paramaters.
Thanks for any help!
Cheers,
Mario
Migrate XenServer Vm's to ESXi VM's
Hi,
we have some XenServer Vm's running and need to migrate them to ESXi because of stability issues with XenServer.
my major problem is, that we don't have access to the VM's (no Admin Credentials).
How can i migrate these VM's to ESXi and Install VMWare Tools wihtout Access ?
The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable
Due to frozen the ESXi 6.0 server , we restarted the Management agent services by the following command by reference of https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003490
/etc/init.d/hostd restart -- not worked
/etc/init.d/vpxa restart -- not worked
finally we restated this service services.sh restart -- its take to long time and after onward we are unable to login into the Vsphere by client and webclient also get the following error
vSphere client: vSphere Client could not Connect to IP. An Unknow connection error occured.(The server could not interpret the clients request.( The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable)
WebClient:
503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http16LocalServiceSpecE:0x1f08c898] _serverNamespace = / _isRedirect = false _port = 8309)
All the VM in this HOST are UP and Running without any issues with the network connection.
We are able to connect the SSH with the Management IP Address.
Can someone HELP ME ASAP.
Increase Memory while VM is Running
Dear Experts,
I have a question for adding more memory to a VM while it is running. We have a VM with guest OS of Win 2008 R2 x64. When creating this VM we gave 4GB Mem. to it, but now the requirement is more and we want to add more 4GB so total 8GB.
I need to know is there a way possible to increase the memory while machine is ON? I checked this, right click on VM and say edit settings> there memory choice is grayed out, to me it seems it is not possible. Need to know from experts if that is possible.
Kind Regards,
import vmdk file into ESXi 5.5?
hi
Howto import vmdk file into ESXi 5.5 and run it as a guest VM, for example:
ESXi 6.5, Oct Build and macOS High Sierra 10.13
Has anyone been able to use high sierra on 6.5update1 w/ all patches to date? Upgrades of vms from 10.12 to 10.13 result in an error in booting represented by a circle with a cross through it. Creating a brand new guest and booting from the installation media causes Disk Utility to display a disk labeled disk1s1 with a size of 32KB. It is not format-able. The vm's are set to version 13 and the guest os is the highest available in the menu "10.12".
Unable to get ESXI 6.5 to see hard drives (after flash drive install)
Greetings,
I know enough to be dangerous here but ran into a bit of a snag. I have installed ESXI 6.5 on an old Alienware Aurora and I used a flash drive to install the software on (which works great) but I cannot get it to recognize my two SATA Hard Drives that are seen by BIOS (and other operating systems) without issue. I tried several things (formatting the HD's in several ways, messing with the BIOS, even installing a few VIBS that I thought would help after the fact to no effect. Am I missing something? I would rather not build a new install if I can help it (since its already installed and I believe you can just keep loading VIBS?)
Is this just simply a driver issue, and if it is, is it just a matter of getting the correct .VIB file to do what I need to do? I have been searching google like crazy and just keep coming up with more VIBS but nothing specific to my hard drives. Is it perhaps the HD controller I should be getting drivers to? I am completely lost. My previous installs on other systems have never had this problem.
BIOS shows
--------------------
ST2000DM001-9Y Seagate Barracuda 2tb
ST3000DM001-1C Seagate Desktop 3tb
Tried changing lots in BIOS, even tried to RAID which made no difference either. The only thing it can see is my flash.
Here are all the drivers ... was hopeful to find a section that says "VMWARE DRIVERS" but I assume that never happens.

I would be most thankful for a point in the right direction, thanks!
64-bit VirtualBox inside a VM
I need to setup a Windows 8.1 64-bit VM on my VMWare environment. Inside it I need to run a 64-bit VM with VirtualBox. I've installed Windows on the VM and installed VirtualBox, however, I can't get it to show 64-bit....Only 32-bit. I've added vhv.enable = "TRUE" to the VMX file (saw that somewhere) and ensured Hyper-V was not installed on the Windows 8.1 machine. Any other suggestions as to what I'm missing?

ESXI Evaluation question
We've just installed ESXI 5.5 and it's up and running with 1x VM so far.
I was under the impression that ESXI 5.5 was free but I am getting Evaluation messages within the vSphere client software. Can someone advise what happens at the end of the 60days?
Does 5.1 work the same way?

VM guest fails to boot with error "Device 'Bootstrap' is not available"
I have an old linux (kernel 2.2x) server that we virtualized a few years ago that I am trying to transition to an ESXi 6.0U1a server. It was initially created with VMware Workstation version 6. The first issue I came across was that the Virtual Hardware version needed to be upgraded. Trying to make as little change as possible to the VM to keep it running but upgrading to something supported by our entire infrastructure, I upgraded to hardware version 7 based on this: VMware KB: ESXi/ESX hosts and compatible virtual machine hardware versions list.
After upgrading the virtual hardware it still worked on VMware Workstation 12. But after moving it to the ESXi 6.0U1a server it fails to start with the error "Device 'Bootstrap' is not available". I was unable to find any search results based on this error message. With the VM working in workstation and as I have several ESXi servers running different versions I decided to try it on the older servers. The VM boots fine on ESXi 4.1U3. On ESXi 5.5U3 it fails to boot with a different error message: "Failed to start the virtual machine (error -18)". That led me to this: VMware KB: The virtual machine fails to start with the error: msg.vmx.poweron.failedErrorCodewhich suggests looking at the VM's .vmx file. One of the linked articles talks about deleting the .vmx file and then recreating the VM utilizing the existing disks.
I decided to attempt this route and renamed the original .vmx file, and then recreated the VM from the vSphere Client on the ESXi 6.0U1a server. Trying to start the newly created VM results in the exact same error message I started with: "Device 'Bootstrap' is not available". The event log on the server has an error that is probably more pertinent: "Cannot open the configuration file" (Identical error message for both .vmx files) If I SSH into the server I am able to view/edit the .vmx file, so I am really confused at what is going on.
Any help?

HELP. The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. Power off or reset the virtual machine. WHY ?
Greetings.
I have a ESXi 5.5 environment with a Red Hat 5.10 operating system. The operating system worked fine until a few days ago. ESXi shows the error "The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. Power off or reset the virtual machine." I don´t know why my server shows the error if my environment was OK. Could be a kernel issue ? a operating system issue ?
Ideas ?
Thanks for the help.
ESXi 5.5 - vSphere Web Client download
I just installed VMware ESXi 5.5 Free Edition on a Dell server, when I open up VMware vSphere Client it says the following:
"In vSphere 5.5, all new vSphere features are available only through the vSphere Web Client. The traditional vSphere Client will continue to operate, supporting the same feature set as vSphere 5.0, but not exposing any of the new features in vSphere 5.5.
The vSphere Client is still used for the vSphere Update Manager (VLM) and Host Client, along with a few solutions (eg. Site Recovery Manager)."
Where do I download vSphere Web Client?
Thanks

CTK.vmdk file
Does anyone know what a ctk.vmdk file is for that exists in a vm folder?
NIC speed 100mbps instead of 1000mbps
I have two HP DL380G6 servers running ESX4i. These servers are equipped with four 1-gigabit NICs. On Server1 all 4NICs are configured and running at 1000mbps.
However, Server2 indicates that one of the network cards is working at 100mbps instead of 1000mbps. 100mbps is listed for both the configured and actual speed, but I can't seem to change it within vSphere/vCenter. The other 3 NICs in server2 are running at 1000mbps.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
